Part-time Support Developer
Our client is seeking a friendly and caring Part-time Support Developer to join their team. This is a unique part-time position designed for a generalist developer who enjoys tackling diverse and small tasks, supporting clients, and solving new problems daily. The role requires a balance of technical skills, emotional intelligence, and independent problem-solving ability to ensure clients feel valued and supported.

This role is fully remote.

Part-time Support Developer Responsibilities

  • Provide front-end and back-end development using WordPress, ExpressionEngine, Craft, Drupal, Shopify, BigCommerce, Magento, and custom applications.
  • Collaborate with designers and QA to ensure new work is responsive, high-quality, and cross-browser compatible.
  • Engage directly with clients, gathering requirements, asking questions, resolving issues, and ensuring they feel supported.
  • Work with Project Managers and Account Strategists to mitigate risks and resolve blockers.
  • Complete development tasks within less than a day, including requirements gathering, writing code, QA, and deployment.
  • Troubleshoot diverse issues, present multiple solutions with pros and cons, and guide clients through decision-making.
  • Independently handle diverse tasks and collaborate when needed.
  • Set up local environments using Docker and docker-compose.
  • Create and update documentation as needed.

Part-time Support Developer Qualifications

  • +2 years of experience working with PHP, JavaScript, CSS, MySQL in a digital agency environment (preferred).
  • +2 years of experience with frontend frameworks (ReactJS, AngularJS, or Vue.js) and backend frameworks (Express.js, Django, Node, or Flask).
  • Familiarity with databases like MariaDB, MongoDB, and programming languages such as Java, Golang, .NET, and Python.
  • Experience with continuous integration/deployment, version control (GitHub/Bitbucket), and best practices for code reviews.
  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and DevOps principles.
  • Attention to detail, especially with design requirements and small technical details.
  • Demonstrated care for others and how technical issues impact them.
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written) using Slack, Jira, Zoom, and Email.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • High emotional intelligence with the ability to provide excellent customer support.
  • Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and attention to detail.
  • Availability during business hours on weekdays and flexibility for urgent off-hours issues.

Compensation: $45-$55/hr. (DOE)
