Chief Financial Officer (CFO)
A prominent nonprofit organization located in Portland, OR, is seeking a dynamic Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join their leadership team. Reporting directly to the CEO, this role will focus on financial stewardship and identifying future growth opportunities. The ideal CFO will align with the organization’s core values of respect, quality, collaboration, diversity, and compassion, in contributing to a vibrant and inclusive community. This is a hybrid role requiring 3 days a week onsite in Portland, Oregon.
Chief Financial Officer Responsibilities
- Plan, direct, and coordinate financial operations for the organization ensuring compliance with GAAP.
- Oversee preparation and monitoring of annual operating and capital budgets, assisting management in departmental budget development and performance analysis.
- Supervise and mentor team members to ensure effective financial management.
- Recommend financial policies, ensure compliance with policies and internal controls, and serve as Tax Compliance Officer.
- Participate in long-range planning and provide financial analysis and reports to the Board.
Chief Financial Officer Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field; CPA a plus.
- 8 years of progressive financial management experience with recent exposure to service-oriented industries (property management, hospitality, retirement living).
- Tech-savvy with ERPs, financial reporting systems, and advanced Excel skills.
- Highly collaborative with strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
- Strong business acumen with the ability to think strategically, effectively problem solve, and make decisions.
- Deadline-driven with the ability to effectively manage and delegate competing tasks and priorities.
Salary: $200k–$225k (DOE)
