Data Architect
Our client, a leader in the retail industry, is seeking a Data Architect to join their team. This pivotal role involves designing, creating, deploying, and managing the company's data architecture to support strategic initiatives. The ideal candidate will ensure data is properly stored, secured, accessible, and optimized for efficiency. This position offers the opportunity to work closely with various departments to meet their data needs through innovative solutions.

This role is fully remote.

Data Architect Responsibilities
Design and Development:

  • Design and implement effective database solutions and models for storing and retrieving company data.
  • Develop database solutions by designing system requirements, establishing data standards, and integrating data processes.
  • Define and manage data models, schemas, metadata, and data dictionaries.

Data Governance:

  • Establish and oversee data governance policies and procedures to ensure data accuracy, integrity, and security.
  • Ensure compliance with data protection regulations and industry best practices.

Performance and Optimization:

  • Monitor, optimize, and ensure database performance and scalability.
  • Implement and maintain data warehouses and data lakes for efficient data storage and retrieval.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Collaborate with IT teams, software developers, and business analysts to understand and fulfill data requirements.
  • Communicate data architecture principles and solutions effectively to stakeholders.

Data Integration:

  • Design and execute data integration solutions to ensure seamless data flow and consistency across systems.
  • Manage the importing, transforming, and exporting of data between platforms and applications.

Technology and Innovation:

  • Stay abreast of emerging data technologies and industry trends to enhance data architecture.
  • Recommend and integrate new technologies and best practices.

Documentation and Training:

  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for data architectures, policies, and procedures.
  • Provide training and support to data users and stakeholders to promote data literacy.

Data Architect Qualifications

  • Proven experience in data modeling and database design, including proficiency in ERDs and understanding relationships between different data entities.
  • Expertise in SQL-based databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, SQL Server, and NoSQL databases like MongoDB, Cassandra, DynamoDB.
  • Experience in data warehousing with platforms like Amazon Redshift, Google BigQuery, or Snowflake.
  • Proficiency in ETL tools such as Apache NiFi, Talend, Informatica, or SSIS.
  • Strong experience in designing data pipelines and ensuring smooth data flow between systems.
  • Skilled in APIs for data ingestion and real-time data processing.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms and comprehensive knowledge in data governance.
  • Must have a background in the retail or consumer industry.

Compensation: Market Rates. (DOE)
