Data Engineer
Our client is seeking a highly skilled Data Engineer to design, implement, and optimize database management systems for high-performance data processing environments. This role involves working closely with various stakeholders to ensure data integrity, scalability, and efficiency across multiple platforms, including Databricks, AWS EMR, and Snowflake.
This role is a hybrid model in Beaverton, Oregon. Fully remote candidates working PST hours will be considered.
Data Engineer Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain database management systems, establishing standards, guidelines, and quality assurance practices for data deliverables.
- Develop conceptual and logical database designs, capacity plans, and data maintenance/security policies.
- Build database frameworks, interfaces, and processes, including data loading plans and external data interface specifications.
- Optimize workload distribution, storage organization, and processing efficiency, especially within Databricks, Spark, Snowflake, DBsql, and potentially Atscale environments.
- Code complex programs and devise logical processes on technical platforms, creating windows, screens, and reports to support application requirements.
- Collaborate in user interface and business application prototype designs to align with data management specifications.
- Participate in quality assurance processes, testing application code within client-server environments.
- Adapt business requirements to develop data models, specifications, table structures, and element attributes for applications.
- Document and communicate database design specifications, ensuring alignment with business needs and data governance standards.
- Serve as a subject matter expert, advising on data storage methods, relational models, and field interactions within the database.
Data Engineer Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
- A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience, including comprehensive expertise in database management and solution design.
- Proficiency in Databricks, AWS EMR, Spark, Snowflake, DBsql, and data modeling, with experience in solution design and workload optimization.
- Familiarity with Atscale is a plus.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to adapt complex business requirements into effective database designs.
- Experience in documenting and communicating database architectures and designs to cross-functional teams.
- Excellent understanding of relational models and data integration techniques across various platforms.
- Proven track record in coding, quality assurance, and developing test application code within client-server environments.
Compensation: $73.33/hr. (DOE)
