Digital Transformation Consultant (Capacity Management)
The Digital Transformation Consultant (Capacity Management) will be instrumental in modernizing our client's IT organization’s resource and capacity management processes. Reporting to the Chief of Staff of the Chief Digital Information Officer, this role will focus on assessing, designing, and implementing improvements in the organization’s resource allocation, capacity management, and work prioritization processes. The consultant will develop user-friendly, low-tech solutions to ensure efficient management of resources, enhance operational efficiency, and support decision-making capabilities.

This is a remote position.

Digital Transformation Consultant (Capacity Management) Responsibilities
Assessment and Evaluation:
Partner with IT leaders and teams across various functions (e.g., Operations, Applications, Infrastructure, Security, Service Desk, PMO) to assess current capacity management practices.
Identify gaps in how resources are managed, prioritized, and allocated across the IT department.

Stakeholder Collaboration:
Facilitate meetings, workshops, and focus groups to collect feedback from IT leadership and teams on current processes, challenges, and opportunities for improvement.
Engage with stakeholders to gather input on past initiatives and potential barriers to successful capacity management enhancements.

Strategy Design & Implementation:
Develop a comprehensive strategy to modernize resource and capacity management practices, considering phased implementation to ensure sustainable change.
Create simple, scalable processes and templates to effectively capture work details and manage resource allocations.

Capacity Reservation Standards:
Collaborate with IT leaders to establish clear standards for capacity reservation, balancing “keep the lights on” activities with the need to manage projects, requests, and incidents.

Governance & Process Standardization:
Establish a governance structure with defined roles and responsibilities (e.g., resource managers, portfolio managers, project managers) to standardize capacity management practices across IT.

Reporting and Metrics Development:
Design and implement tools and processes for reporting on capacity constraints, enabling executive-level decision-making around project prioritization, staffing, and budgeting.
Develop metrics to assess the effectiveness of new processes and adjust strategies based on performance feedback.

Documentation & Training:
Create clear documentation and guidelines to facilitate understanding and implementation of new processes.
Lead training sessions and provide ongoing support to IT staff to ensure successful adoption of new capacity management processes.

Digital Transformation Consultant (Capacity Management) Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field.
No certifications are required. Relevant certifications (e.g., PMP, ITIL, Agile, Lean Six Sigma) are a plus.
Minimum of 10 years of experience in IT consulting, project management, or a related field, with a focus on resource and capacity management.
Experience leading change management and process improvement initiatives.
Proven success in supporting legacy systems and teams during transitions to modern processes.
Strong understanding of IT project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall).
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
Knowledge of capacity planning and project portfolio management tools (e.g., Planview) and techniques.
Analytical mindset with problem-solving capabilities to identify issues and develop effective solutions.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.

Compensation: $77-$87/hr. (DOE)
