Food Processing Engineer
Our client is seeking an inquisitive and detail-oriented Food Processing Engineer to join their expanding team. With a recent investment in three new production lines, this role will be essential in driving process efficiency, reducing waste, and supporting the start-up of these new lines. This position provides an exciting opportunity to influence production and quality within a high-performance environment focused on nutritious snack products.
This role is onsite in McMinnville, Oregon.
Food Processing Engineer Responsibilities
- Identify, analyze, and address potential issues across the production line. Work closely with operators and production managers to recommend solutions that could involve adjustments to equipment, training, or process changes.
- Evaluate existing processes with a universal perspective, focusing on improvements that reduce waste and streamline production without sacrificing quality.
- Work with engineering, maintenance, and production teams to gain insights and coordinate improvements, particularly around existing lines and equipment. This role requires a holistic approach to production that balances machine performance with operational best practices.
- Use metrics and analytics to identify production bottlenecks, track performance, and implement targeted improvements.
Food Processing Engineer Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Food Science, Bioscience Engineering, or a related field.
- 2-5 years in an engineering or production-focused role, ideally with exposure to process optimization.
- The ideal candidate is a curious, problem-solving team player who can step back, analyze processes, and suggest practical improvements.
Preferred:
- Background in Lean Six Sigma methodologies for continuous improvement.
- Hands-on experience with production operations in food processing or similar industries.
- Familiarity with SAP and MS Office; Lean Six Sigma certification is a plus but not required.
- Ability to balance a detail-oriented approach with big-picture thinking to address broad production challenges.
Salary: 90k-130k/year. (DOE)
