OpenBMC QA Engineer
Our client is seeking an OpenBMC QA Engineer to join their organization. The OpenBMC QA Engineer will design, develop, and execute test plans to exercise BMC firmware support for next-generation server computers. You'll work closely with BMC engineering teams to ensure we have a robust, compatible, and secure product. The ideal candidate must have experience in BMC firmware, automation skills with Redfish and IPMI, proficiency in Python, and strong communication and interaction skills.

This role is fully remote.

OpenBMC QA Engineer Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, maintain test plans, and evaluate BMC solutions on server platforms.
  • Set up and maintain the test environment and test tools.
  • Utilize a bug tracking system to provide detailed information on how to recreate bugs.
  • Collaborate with engineering staff to diagnose and resolve bugs.
  • Provide training to other team members on testing best practices.
  • Implement automation testing wherever feasible, particularly with Redfish and IPMI.
  • Assist with the setup, maintenance, and coding required for test automation.

OpenBMC QA Engineer Qualifications

  • BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science/Engineering, or equivalent, or 5+ years’ experience in firmware or software testing.
  • 3+ years’ experience in BMC firmware testing.
  • Familiarity with IPMI, Redfish, and web interfaces.
  • Familiarity with bug tracking systems.
  • Familiarity with operating systems such as Windows and Linux.
  • Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Must work well both within a team and independently.

Additional Skills:

  • Working knowledge of motherboard technologies such as PCIe, USB, UART, SPI, I2C.
  • Understanding of cryptographic technologies such as public-key cryptography.
  • Proficiency in Python, Robot Framework, and other automated frameworks.
  • Working knowledge of Jenkins automation tool that facilitates continuous integration.
