Payroll and HR Specialist (HYBRID)
Our client seeks a Payroll and HR Specialist who is detail-oriented, proactive, and thrives in a fast-paced, multi-state environment. This role requires a blend of excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills with the ability to ensure accuracy and compliance across payroll and HR functions. The ideal candidate is passionate about payroll and desires an opportunity to grow in their payroll knowledge.
This is a hybrid role requiring 3 days a week onsite in Portland, Oregon.
Payroll and HR Specialist Responsibilities
- Handle high-volume, full cycle payroll operations for employees across multiple states, ensuring compliance with federal and state laws.
- Audit payroll for accuracy, including pay codes, taxes, and benefit deductions, and manage tax calculations and filings.
- Reconcile payroll data, ensuring timely and accurate processing of payroll and reporting, including quarter/year-end filings.
- Respond to payroll and HR-related inquiries and provide system support/training to team members.
- Support HR functions, including new hire orientations, benefits processing, and HRIS system maintenance.
- Identify and suggest process improvements/efficiencies.
Payroll and HR Specialist Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience processing multi-state payroll for 400+ employees.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field a plus.
- Proficiency with HRIS, payroll systems, and MS office including intermediate Excel skills.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills with a customer-service approach.
- Organized with strong time management skills and attention to detail/accuracy.
- Self-motivated and takes initiative to identify ways to improve processes and maximize efficiency.
Compensation: $70k-$80k (DOE) + Bonus
