Safety Analysis Engineer
Our client is seeking a highly experienced Nuclear Engineer specializing in light-water reactor safety analysis. This position focuses on system thermal hydraulics and analysis methodology, essential for the design and licensing of small modular nuclear reactors. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in reactor thermal hydraulics, safety analysis, and a deep understanding of regulatory compliance and quality assurance standards.

This role is fully remote.

Safety Analysis Engineer Responsibilities

  • Utilize expert technical knowledge and experience with government regulators to identify and mitigate engineering design solutions and potential licensing risks.
  • Perform safety analysis calculations using industry-standard simulation tools such as RELAP5, RETRAN, TRACE, COBRA, VIPRE, TRAC, and RADTRAD.
  • Apply reactor thermal hydraulic concepts to support the design and licensing of the organization's small modular nuclear reactors.
  • Review and provide comments on Safety Analysis engineering work products.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Safety Analysis Engineer Qualifications

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Nuclear Engineering.
  • A minimum of 8 years’ experience in reactor thermal hydraulics and/or safety analysis; an advanced degree in engineering may be substituted for 1 year of work experience.
  • Eligibility to work under Department of Energy 10 CFR Part 810.
  • In-depth understanding of engineering concepts, principles, and theories.
  • Strong technical writing skills, along with excellent communication, computer, and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated understanding and implementation of quality assurance regulations, standards, and guidelines of 10 CFR 50 Appendix B, 10 CFR 21, and NQA-1.
  • Ability to understand and communicate clearly using a phone, personal interaction, and computers.
  • Ability to learn new job functions and comprehend and understand new concepts quickly and apply them accurately in a rapidly evolving environment.
  • Requires frequent sitting and standing; walking; bending, and reaching with hands and arms.
  • Ability to travel nationally and locally using common forms of transportation.
