Senior Communications Specialist
Our client is looking for a skilled and proactive Senior Communications Specialist to join their newly formed Digital Publishing & Performance team. This team plays a crucial role in promoting the organization’s communications efforts, ensuring positive media coverage, advocacy, and impactful stories reach target audiences through strategic use of paid social media. This position will involve significant data analysis, paid media optimization, and audience targeting, all with a meaningful mission to address climate change and support the transition to renewable energy.

This role is a hybrid model based in Portland, Oregon. Remote candidates will be considered. This role will start at 20 hours per week, with the opportunity to ramp up to 40 hours based on project needs and performance.

Senior Communications Specialist Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage paid social media campaigns across platforms like LinkedIn Ads, Meta Ads, X Ads, and others to reach targeted audiences.
  • Use Sprinklr for digital publishing and data analysis, ensuring that campaigns are performing optimally based on detailed data insights.
  • Analyze campaign performance to make data-driven recommendations and optimize ads for greater engagement and efficiency.
  • Build and maintain systems and processes for data tracking, performance reporting, and audience targeting, contributing to the development of new systems from the ground up.
  • Perform A/B testing and other performance optimization techniques to enhance creative and message delivery.
  • Utilize Smartsheet for project scheduling, campaign calendaring, and team collaboration.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to translate complex data insights into digestible recommendations for optimizing communication strategies.
  • Engage in frequent testing and learning as the team scales and grows, providing feedback and helping shape the direction of the team’s paid media strategy.
  • Participate in team meetings to discuss campaign performance, optimization strategies, and future plans.

Senior Communications Specialist Qualifications

  • 4-10 years of hands-on experience in paid social media ads, specifically with Meta Ads, LinkedIn Ads, X Ads (or similar platforms).
  • Expertise in working within Sprinklr or similar social listening and publishing tools, with the ability to get up to speed quickly.
  • Strong data analysis skills, with the ability to interpret communication data, analyze results, and recommend actionable insights.
  • Experience in building systems and strategies from scratch, especially in paid social media targeting and optimization.
  • Ability to work independently and hit the ground running with minimal hand-holding, as the team is still in development.
  • Experience working in a corporate environment (as opposed to start-up or freelance backgrounds).
  • Sense of humor, adaptability, and a positive, collaborative spirit.

Preferred:

  • Experience using Smartsheet or similar project management tools.
  • Familiarity with Google Analytics or Gecko Board for data visualization.
  • Experience in benchmarking and competitor analysis.
  • Passion for meaningful work, especially related to climate change and renewable energy.

Compensation: $49-$59/hr. (DOE)
