Senior Grant Accountant

This is a hybrid role requiring qualified applicants to commute weekly to offices in Portland, Oregon.

Senior Grant Accountant Responsibilities

• Oversee the AR/grant management process with focus on ensuring timely billing, receipt of payments, and deposit of funds for all government funders.
• Assist in preparing and verifying monthly invoices to funders, ensuring proper documentation, coding, and amounts.
• Maintain general ledger, including account analysis, subsidiary schedules preparation with proper supporting documentation, and preparation of monthly and year-end journal entries. 
• Reconcile financial records with internal staff, funders, and customers, and investigate discrepancies to provide resolutions.
• Maintain and track grant budgets, due dates, and monthly burn rates; establish processes for new grant submissions and closures.
• Complete accurate and timely monthly financial statements, including balance sheet, income statement, and budget to actual reports.
• Support monthly and year-end closing, prepare for audits, and ensure compliance with federal, state, and GAAP requirements.

Senior Grant Accountant Qualifications

• Non-profit background and grant and/or fund accounting knowledge required; will also consider project accounting experience.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Strong understanding of revenue recognition (debits/credits), cost reimbursements, invoicing, and budgets.
• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field a plus.
• Proficiency with ERP systems (NetSuite or similar) and intermediate to advanced Excel skills; exposure to QuickBooks a plus.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively collaborate amongst departments.
• Strong critical thinking/comprehension skills with the ability to understand and interpret semi-complex contracts and documents.
• Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage complex tasks and deadlines.

Salary: $40-$50 (DOE)
