Senior Transmission / Civil Design Engineer
Our client is looking for a Senior Transmission / Civil Design Engineer to provide comprehensive civil/structural engineering design services for transmission facilities, and to ensure that these facilities are constructed on schedule and within committed resource allocations.

This position is onsite in Las Vegas, NV.

Senior Transmission / Civil Design Engineer Responsibilities 
For substation and transmission projects: (25%)
– Provides civil engineering expertise to transmission line engineering analysis, route analysis and selection, calculations for line design (includes structure loading, foundation design and conductor sag), specifies materials and evaluates bid documents and technical submittals, and completes the construction package.
– Acquires all necessary construction approvals and permits from the authority having jurisdiction.
Develops economical, technically feasible, reliable transmission civil/structural designs with minimal supervision and guidance. Selects and widely applies engineering principles, theories and concepts in the design of transmission, and substation civil projects. (25%)
Independently scopes, routes, and sites transmission line projects and evaluates alternatives in order to find best value. (10%)
Provides, mentoring, leadership, training and direction to fellow staff members, and provides technical design and project peer review. (10%)
Provides accurate cost estimates and schedule input for use in company budgeting procedures such that cash flow requirements are identified. (10%)
Evaluates, benchmarks, and make recommendations for the creation and improvements of substation and transmission standards and specifications. (5%)
Coordinates and interacts professionally with internal and external customers and stakeholders to ensure a successful project. (10%)
Performs studies, prepares and provides written and oral reports to management and internal and external customers. (5%)

Senior Transmission / Civil Design Engineer Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited school and 5 years industry experience as a practicing engineer, and must be a licensed PE.  If no PE license then must have 8+ years as a practicing engineer. 

Demonstrated knowledge of:
– Utility setting with specific experience in the areas of civil, structural and/or transmission engineering design.
– Structural experience involving transmission pole design for projects up to 230kV.
– Transmission line design experience including overhead line design up to 230kV or underground line design up to 230kV.

Skills such as: Analytical, interpersonal and communication.

Equipment and Applications
PCs, word processing, spreadsheet, database, and software (such as: structural steel design, foundation design, transmission line design, hydrology and hydraulics).

Work Environment and Physical Demands
General office environment.  Travel may be required up to 25% of work hours and may consist of travel to remote parts of Nevada in order to scope substation sites or transmission alignments and support design and construction. Walking over rugged terrain at high elevation may be required.

Compensation: $51-$52/hr. (DOE)
