Tax Specialist
Our client is looking for a knowledgeable Tax Specialist to join their team on a contract basis. The ideal candidate has stellar customer service skills, is detail-oriented and accurate, and can maintain competing deadlines.

This is a remote position available to anyone residing in the United States.
Training will be completed on a Central Time Zone schedule for the first month or two, after which hours and time zone are flexible.

Tax Specialist Responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of client tax filings; review tax returns and payments for accuracy.
• Research discrepancies and reconcile records as required.
• Enter tax data into systems and escalate issues to internal team members.
• Respond to inquiries and communicate general tax information to customers via phone/email.
• Submit tax documents for clients.
• Prepare reports and maintain tax calendars/schedules.
• Make recommendations to assist in efficiency or operational improvements.

Tax Specialist Qualifications

• At least 1 year of work experience related to multi-state tax activities (sales, excise, value-added (VAT), gross receipts, payroll tax, or similar).
• Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills with emphasis on customer service.
• Exposure to CRM systems (Salesforce or similar), strong Excel skills, and the ability to learn new systems quickly.
• Self-directed with strong time management skills.
• Excellent multi-tasking and critical thinking abilities.

Salary: $18-$20/hr. (DOE)
